Internet favours the new possible ways to explore one self. The only note is differrence of knowledge that we posess. Internet today faces increased censorship and control, then they cannot begin to resist it. To adapt a line from Kathryn Bigelow's film Strange Days ( Ref: Remote control, C. Lumby and E. Probyn), the Internet is not 'like TV only better', it is a medium that allows for direct participation. And as we become informed about the options before us, we have the ability to make active choices about the kind of Internet we wish to participate in that means of expression that is permitted at net.
As media consumers or producers we must know the rules and do use it properly, as a user of a video game knows the rules and abides by it. It is for self help that one uses the net properly.
